We enjoyed a four day weekend here in the sun and heat (not too hot though!). Mike had Friday and Monday off, it was so nice! We started the weekend off on Thursday night with Noah's first soccer practice. We got a bit mixed up on where to go but after we found it, Noah had lots of fun practicing and meeting his team mates.
Friday and Saturday during the day there was much work getting done at our house. Lots and painting and more painting! We did take a break for the evening though on Friday and went bowling as a family. We all went, I think we were a bit apprehensive as to how it would go, but it went well. The boys have asked each day now if we can go "play bowling ball" again. Addison had fun crawling around and being held. She squaeled when the boys were excited which was often. We had the bumpers up and a little ramp (they only had 7 lb balls, a bit heavy). Mike of course won, no surprise there! Then it was Josh, me, and Noah not far behind. Yes I got beat by our 2 year old, but hey I broke 100 so that's something for me! After bowling, we stopped and picked up happy meals for the kids. Yes, all 3 of them now get happy meals (though for a couple weeks Noah was needing a regular meal, but growth spurt seems to have passed thankfully) because Addison can eat most of a happy meal without any trouble. So the kids all got happy meals when we got home and we just barely beat the baby sitter home! Mike and I got to go on a real date, so nice! We didn't do anything too exciting, just dinner and a trip to Target (okay probably a bit lame, but it is nice to shop without kids). We didn't want to drive too far, the week had been full of driving. We did find a little pizza place close to home that was pretty good though, always exciting in our book.
Saturday of course was more painting and work! Then we went to church and had the honor of watching Kristin and Corby dedicate all 3 of their boys =) so special, and even more so I'm sure for them since Kristin's parents were in town and able to be there! After church we had dinner at "the hot dog place" It is this little hot dog shop close to church that we went to the week before, the food was good, they didn't mind all 6 kids and were super nice to them, to top it off the prices were great and then it was topped with a military discount - awesome!
Sunday was a bit more painting. I took a trip to Sam's Club to get groceries and after some hunting down the right Sam's Club, the pictures I had printed! Mike took all the kids after their naps to the pool while I was running those errands, and I know the kids had a blast.
Monday we spent the morning at Boulder Beach on Lake Mead. It was a rocky/dirt filled beach but the water felt great and everyone had a good time. Josh was so brave, he hasn't warmed up to water this summer like Noah and we aren't pushing him too hard about it but after some lunch he decided he did want to get in. He went and walked down to the beach all by himself to Mike and Noah who were already in the water. He stayed in for a while, but eventually got tired of the waves, later he told me that the waves scared him. I'm so proud of him for facing a fear though. Noah had fun splashing and swimming despite the muddy beach. He even asked to be thrown in the water - of course Mike did and they had a blast. Addison spent the time before our little lunch in the water with Mike and Noah. Mike said she really giggled when he was slopping around in the mud, apparently she thinks her Daddy is pretty funny. Then during our lunch break (at 1015) she decided to show off her standing skills. She has only stood on her own about 5 or 6 times until today. She stood several times and even got herself balanced back once or twice. We got home and rested some, worked on the armoires more and watched some football. We also were able to get some school done. Quite the busy weekend! I'll post some pictures soon!
