Addison's Happenings...

I apparently didn't quite keep up with posting schedule I set for myself, sorry!  Life seems to get in the way pretty quickly around here.  So I'm going to try and do an update on the kids, each getting their turn.  Addison seems to have the most at the moment to update on.  It's been a hectic kind of month for her.  Mike's parents were visiting for her first birthday - that was really great to get to celebrate with them and of course Kristin and boys too!  We had a princess and knight party (Addison was the only girl among the group =) so we had to have some knights in the theme!)  Everyone had a good time and Addison definitely enjoyed her cake.  We did a lot of sight seeing and visiting during their visit and lots of time at the park.  Addison enjoyed the cactus garden and the chocolate factory tour (at least once Mike shared the chocolate with her!).
Addison also had her 1 year well baby check up on the 30th.  There were shots and blood work and concerns voiced about her weight.  She's still fairly small, she has been since about 4 or 5 months, though she has dropped down a few percentiles again.  The concern isn't that she's small per say, more that she is eating well and not really gaining weight so dropping percentiles.  She was only 17 lbs 3.5 oz, which is much more than her 9 month well baby appointment.  Right about this time she also seemed to be having some tummy issues, now we think it was probably a virus of some kind but it certainly didn't help.  The doctor checked her blood levels and thyroid as well, all of which were normal.  We got referrals for speech, genetics, and nutritional medicine when we left.  Added to the already in process referral for her new hearing aid and the next couple weeks turned in to a bit of a battle of paper work.  About this time I also got a call from a case manager on base - something that was suppose to happen in June.  YEAH!  Life has been a bit easier on our end with a case manager, somehow she's able to get more answers it seems quicker than I could.  It has been wonderful, she has been a wonderful help.
As of right now, the hearing aid for the right ear has been ordered (light pink) and should be here in about a week and a half (the ear molds take 2 weeks), we have seen nutritional medicine (basically we need to add fat and calories, forget about keeping her diet in moderation she can have a milk shake every day if she wants, and we're adding butter, oil, cream, and powdered milk to all we can), she has her first speech appointment Wed. (with Noah's speech therapist...not sure what we'll do with her since she's not talking at all really, guess we'll find out), and we are leaving soon for San Diego for a couple days to see a genetic doctor at the Naval hospital there (just some more tests to rule out and see if there is a cause for her hearing loss and other concerns that may be associated with them, we are not worried just seeking out information).
On the non-medical front, Addison was taking steps (4 - 5) while Mike's parents were here, then promptly stopped and went back to crawling.  She must have wanted to show off for Grandma and Grandpa I think!  She has started again though taking some steps, she'll take 4 or 5 on her own again, by no means a walker yet but she isn't slowed down at all by that fact.  She's also starting to show a real interest in her dolls and animals, she likes to carry them around and hug on them.  It's neat to watch her grow and develop, there are some real differences in how she plays compared to how the boys played at this age.  She still wants to wrestle and roll around the floor with the boys and Mike, but also seems a bit more gentle at times in her playing - when she has cars she is pushing them along, not crashing them into things.
